Airbnb cannot legally compel a guest to pay for damage, but it can facilitate a resolution and may charge a guest's payment method directly if it determines a claim is valid. Under AirCover for Hosts, Airbnb may reimburse hosts for eligible damage even if the guest does not pay. If a guest consistently refuses valid claims and Airbnb rules in the host's favour, the guest's account may be restricted or removed. For significant damage, hosts may also pursue the matter through civil proceedings independent of Airbnb's own process.
