In Queensland, bond is capped at 4 weeks rent for most residential tenancies. The bond must be lodged with the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) and cannot be accessed by the landlord during the tenancy. It is returned at the end of the tenancy, minus any amounts owed for unpaid rent or damage beyond fair wear and tear.
